Fellow operates using short-term credit instruments and liquidity pools, enabling seamless cross-platform money movement through router technology.

<Info>
  **Key Insight**: Fellow transforms every transfer request into a 2-4 day credit instrument, providing instant liquidity while traditional settlement happens in the background.

## The Transfer Flow

When you request an instant transfer, here’s exactly what happens:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Transfer Request">
    You want to move \$1,000 from Schwab → Coinbase instantly using Fellow
  </Step>

  <Step title="Credit Creation">
    Fellow creates a 2-4 day credit instrument for \$1,000 backed by your pending ACH transfer
  </Step>

  <Step title="Instant Settlement">
    You receive \$1,000 in your Coinbase account immediately (minus 40-80 basis points fee)
  </Step>

  <Step title="Background Processing">
    Traditional ACH transfer begins from your Schwab account while you already have access to funds
  </Step>

  <Step title="Final Settlement">
    ACH completes in 2-4 days, settling the credit instrument and completing the cycle
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  If the ACH transfer fails, the user owes the debt like a standard credit card with normal collection processes.
</Warning>

## The Economics Behind Fellow

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="For Users">
    **What You Pay:**

    * 40-80 basis points per instant transfer
    * Access to immediate liquidity across any platform
    * No traditional banking delays or wire fees

    **What You Get:**

    * Instant settlement (\< 5 seconds)
    * Universal platform compatibility
    * Credit assessment and limits that grow with usage
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="For Liquidity Providers">
    **How You Earn:**

    * Stake capital to back instant transfers
    * Earn fees from every transaction (typically 30-65% APR)
    * Share in protocol revenue through decentralized ownership

    **Risk Management:**

    * Pool diversification spreads default risk
    * Credit limits start small and grow with payment history
    * Failed ACH triggers standard credit collection processes
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Protocol Revenue">
    **Revenue Streams:**

    * Transfer fees (40-80 basis points per transaction)
    * Interest on outstanding credit positions
    * Potential interchange fees via BitGo conversions

    **Cost Structure:**

    * \~75% to LPs (yield on staked capital)
    * \~15% to protocol operations
    * \~10% to infrastructure (Circle, collections, etc.)

## Technical Architecture

The Fellow network operates on multiple layers:

### Settlement Layer

Short-term credit instruments with 2-4 day cycles, backed by traditional ACH transfers and managed through automated smart contracts.

### Routing Layer

Multi-network path optimization that automatically selects the most efficient route for transfers based on speed, cost, and available liquidity.

### Integration Layer

APIs and partnerships with banks, crypto exchanges, and fintech platforms enabling seamless connectivity across the financial ecosystem.

<Note>
  This architecture enables Fellow to provide instant settlement while maintaining full compatibility with existing financial infrastructure.
</Note>

## Liquidity Pool Mechanics

<CardGroup cols={3}>
  <Card title="Pool Funding" icon="piggy-bank">
    LPs stake USDC/stablecoins to provide instant liquidity for the network
  </Card>

  <Card title="Utilization" icon="chart-line">
    Pool capital backs all active credit instruments with dynamic interest rates
  </Card>

  <Card title="Revenue Distribution" icon="hand-holding-dollar">
    Transfer fees flow to LPs proportional to their stake in the pool
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

### Risk Sharing Model

Instead of individual LPs bearing specific risks, the pool model socializes both gains and losses:

* **Diversified Exposure**: No single LP is exposed to individual user defaults
* **Proportional Returns**: Earnings distributed based on LP stake percentage
* **Collective Risk Management**: Pool-wide strategies for credit assessment and collections

## Key Differentiators

Fellow's approach combines instant settlement with universal compatibility across financial platforms:

✓ **Instant Cross-Platform Transfers**: Move money between any financial platform
✓ **Democratized Banking**: Anyone can become part of the credit infrastructure by staking capital
✓ **Universal Compatibility**: Works with traditional banks, crypto exchanges, and fintech apps
✓ **Transparent Economics**: Clear fee structure with no hidden costs or complex terms

## What Makes This Possible

Fellow’s innovation lies in recognizing that most financial transfers don’t need to be “real” immediately—they just need to be **accessible** immediately. By creating short-term credit instruments backed by predictable ACH settlements, Fellow provides the user experience of instant transfers while working within existing financial rails.
